Evidence that recent weather conditions have been favourable for salmon anglers was given further credence on Tuesday as the Department of Fisheries and Oceans announced that 13 more rivers will reopen across the island.

One hour before sunrise on Wednesday, 13 rivers in salmon fishing areas 4, 6, and 11 in eastern Newfoundland are scheduled to reopen.

Those rivers include West River and South Brook in Hall's Bay; Tommy's Arm River; Leamington River; Peter's River in the Bay of Exploits; Salmon Cove River, Trouty River, Pope's Harbour River and Deer Harbour River in Trinity Bay; Garnish River; Long Harbour River and Simmons Brook in Fortune Bay; and Bay du Nord River.

For more information, anglers are advised to call the DFO recreational fishing line at 772-4423.
