Confederation Building east block closed for remainder of the day due to sprinkler problems.

Crews at confederation building are assessing the damage in the basement of east block after a broken sprinkler line led to flooding.
A government spokeswoman said that around 8 a.m. workers discovered a break in the main sprinkler line to Confederation Building East Block.
There was flooding in the north wing of the East Block basement, near the Queen’s Printer. There’s no word on how much damage has been caused.
City of St. John’s crews were quickly contacted after the problem was discovered, and they turned off the water line.
Government workers are now mopping up, and working to repair the sprinkler system.
East Block has been closed for the morning, and the government is planning to update employees at 11 a.m.

On Twitter, Mount Pearl MHA Steve Kent announced that the building will be closed until at least 11 a.m. with an update coming then.

scott free...while that may be a bit humourous, it is certainly not true. i am a government worker and i work very hard for my pay cheque...you obviously have never met the hard working people who serve our province.We had the day off today due to a flood in the basement that would have made it unsafe to go to work for us employees. During the winter months, provincial goverment is usually the last place to close along with Metrobus....so while school students and other employees of the private sector can snuggle back into their beds, we have to go out in the cold and ice and snow to try and get to work. Maybe you should think about that this winter
