The RCMP is now reporting there were no injuries after a tire came off a transport truck and struck an oncoming car near the Norris Arm exit on the Trans-Canada Highway. There were two occupants in the car according to Lewisporte RCMP Const. Donald Matthews.

The highway has been reopened, athough officers are still on the scene investigating the incident to determine if charges will be laid. More information as it becomes available.

A car was extensively damaged when a tire flew off a tractor trailer on the Trans-Canada Highway just west of Norris Arm exit, according to RCMP in Lewisporte.

The RCMP is still on the scene as of 1 p.m. and further details will follow.
