Injuries believed to be non-life threatening
A pedestrian and a dog were struck Thursday night on Airport Heights Drive in St. John’s and the driver has been arrested for impaired driving and failing the breathalyzer.
The victim, a 61-year-old man who was on a marked crosswalk at the time, was taken to hospital by ambulance with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. The dog’s condition is unknown.
The RNC responded to the scene at about 7:22 p.m.
The 68-year-old male driver was arrested, charged and later released from custody to appear in court at a later date. He was also issued summary offence tickets for passing a vehicle on the right and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
