    People dont want to take the bus to work because their time is valuable. if it takes 10 minutes to walk to the bus stop, 20 mins to an hour on the bus and another 5-10 minutes to walk to work from the bus stop - that's all taking away from people's valuable time. If the focus of the bus route is to reduce traffic/cars, stop trying to cater to those who don't have cars by taking a convoluted route to reach the max number of houses. Set up places for people to park their cars and create "Express" routes that only stop at MAJOR centers. Keep a few convoluted routes for anyone who works/lives off the beaten path, but have them meet the express routes on a regular basis. Another option would be to create bus lanes where traffic is known to slow down the busses the most at peak hours (IE near mun). Nobody will take a bus that is slow and inconvenient when they have a car, even if it means dishing out all kinds of money to feed the parking meters downtown.

    Kevin O'Brien thinks the only people that would use metrobus are people over 60 years of age? It's time this government got it's head out of the sand. Same goes for Mount Pearl, CBS and Paradise. Shameful.

    People with cars rarely chose to use metro bus. Make parking more expensive for people that are not shoppers, that is for people that need a parking space for more than two hours. Or do like London, England, and charge everyone a daily fee for bringing cars into the centre of the city. Many large buses going around with few seats filled could be replaced with smaller buses. In all cases, the major bus roots must be serviced on average every 15 minutes. This is St. John's, it can get really cold on a bus stop. There should be more bus shelters. Also the telephone servcie to check on service and arrival times works great, keep it up.

    Not 10 years ago when i was in CONA, the buses were full, hardly anyone had a car, but now these days it seems that there are less and less people traveling by bus, because they have their own cars But my guess is that in the next 10 years it will go back to the way it was in 90's with people using the bus more and more because they can afford a car.

    Mr Simms , if you look at your $800,000 you will find you are still losing people from Mt pearl its time this town had its own service , the bus service there is the main reason i left mt Pearl

    Metrobus cna do three things: 1) Cut, cut, cut. 2) Make it user pay by increasing fares 3) Make major stops that depend on the service like CONA, MUN, Avalon Mall pay for the service.
