Neil Armstrong lived an accomplished life, of which being the first human to stand on the Moon was the highest accomplishment. He was quiet and retiring and so stayed out of the limelight as much as he could. He was an excellent pilot and could make life-and-death decisions quickly. One of the artivles about him mentioned that he took great pride (as a pilot) in making the landing on the Moon. For him, getting out of the spacecraft and walking around wasn't so important as making a good landing! We have seen great things in our lifetime. Hopefully, our will to explore will win out over our will to make war and destroy our environment.

First man to set foot on the moon, 78 combat missions in Korean war, forced to eject after being hit by AA, and nary a photo of him clutching his kit and kaboodle in Vegas. Go Figure.

sad thing is, no one has commented on this story...he was the first human being in our history to step on the moon...that's quite an amazing feat
