Kim Hart says Easter Seals camps have been “a blessing” to her family.
At the opening of an Easter Seals photo exhibit at the Village Shopping Centre today, Hart said it’s great to have a program where children with physical disabilities, like her daughter Chelsea, can do all the activities without the need for modifications.
“She’s not sitting on the sidelines while all the kids play soccer or all the other kids play hockey. She’s in there with them. What a blessing that has been to our family.” Hart said.
“The most important thing I think about Easter Seals is that Chelsea is not just that kid in the wheelchair. Chelsea is just that kid.”
Easter Seals Newfoundland and Labrador officially opened a photo Exhibit, titled “Kids Who Can” at the Village Shopping Centre this morning.
The exhibit features photos by local photographers Paul Daly and Greg Locke of Easter Seals Camp Bumbleberry and Day Camp taken during the summer of 2011.
The exhibit also showcases Peter Walsh’s PhotoSensitive black and white multimedia exhibition on 12 Easter Seals summer camps across Canada, capturing the energy and enthusiasm of youth with physical and mental disabilities.
