A man was taken to hospital in St. John's late Monday afternoon after a truck rolled over him in a residential driveway.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. at a home on the corner of Canada Drive and Brownsdale Street. The pickup truck was not known to have been occupied when it rolled over the man, according to Capt. Pat Power of the St. John's Regional Fire Department.

He said the man was sent to hospital to seek treatment for cuts and bruises. Blood was visible on the driveway of the home.

This story has been changed from an earlier version.

WTF? Wasn't a woman killed a couple of days ago when an unoccupied vehicle rolled over her? Coincidence, or did the previous incident give someone a nasty idea to stage a second "accident"?

Bring back mandatory annual vehicle inspections. Ones that can't be 'bought' from garages.
