It looks like a man who died on a construction site Monday passed away from natural causes, the RNC says.

RNC Const. Talia Murphy said the province’s chief medical examiner is looking into it, but she said it looks like the 62-year-old man collapsed in the basement of a house and the death had nothing to do with the construction site or any sort of accident.

“We are continuing the investigation but we do not believe it to be suspicious at this time,” she said.

Hi JD, This accident is not the same one your talking about. There were two accidents. This one had nothing to do with a roof? That was the other one. This was a man who was working inside a home. Had a massive heart attack and then fell through a whole in the floor. Cheers!

CBC is reporting that the man may have fallen because of health problems and then passed away with no signs of suspicious activity.

Can charges be laid against the home owner under OHS if he was not getting paid?

Not really, but the argument could be made by his family and in that case it would be for the courts to figure out. Probably a matter of liability insurance. Being on a roof without proper safety equipment was a matter of his personal choice and not for employment. Its a sad situation for sure.
