25 pounds of dynamite stolen overnight: RNC

Twenty-five pounds of dynamite was stolen overnight from City Sand and Gravel on Topsail Road in Paradise, the RNC said today.

And 35 detonators were also stolen.

The RNC’s media relations officer Const. Talia Murphy said police received the report of the theft about 10 a.m. today.

Murphy said the RNC is concerned not only for public safety, but for the safety of whomever stole the explosives.

    This could be the end of two or three thieves. RNC should back off and wait for the explosion. Hopefully no honest person gets hurt but other than that....................................

    The RNC are more than capable of handling this situation. They usually work alongside RCMP when it comes to investigations that may lead them outside of Newfoundland.

    These explosives will, most likely, will not be used to remove a rock or a tree stump from someone's property.

    The RNC? That's terrorism type stuff. Shouldn't the RCMP and CSIS be taking the lead here?
