A helicopter flight headed for the Henry Goodrich Tuesday afternoon had to make an abrupt turnaround.

At 2:30 p.m., about 30 minutes into the flight, there was a problem discovered with an “attitude heading reference system indicator,” or compass, according to a notice issued by the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (CNLOPB).

The aircraft returned safely to St. John’s and Cougar Helicopters was able to investigate the issue.

The board has said the turnaround was not considered to be a flight safety concern.
