Instead of dancing around the problems people should go to the NL gov site and read the Auditor generals report as to where money is being wasted. Here is the link: http://www.ag.gov.nl.ca/ag/annualReports/2011AnnualReport/2.12%20Marble%20Mountain%20Development%20Corporation.pdf

Is Brazil trying to hide something? Is Dinn gonna give the 10,000 back?

We elect our MHAs to look out for our money and our province. Kudos to Mitchelmore for taking the time to review wasteful spending. Those "nickels and dimes" belong to the taxpayers, and if Brazil doesn't like his job, perhaps he should resign. I've always said that A few more NDP MHAs would never hurt anyone. Heck, they might even do better!

The Province has a number of options here. (A) Sell Marble to a company that specializes in operating ski hills (IntraWest; RCR- Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, etc.). If they do this, then make sure the new operator incurs the debt as well. (B) Hold onto it. Develop the base (like Tremblant or Whistler). Sell condos/townhomes/TimeShares etc. Take the revenue from that & apply it towards the debt and/or improve the hill even more--more snowmaking, more trails etc. (C) Continue to market the hill to Atlantic Canadians & Newfoundlanders. Improve access. Make it easier to reach--ski shuttle busses from St. John's, etc. Get the Media involved more--SKI Magazine, SKI CANADA, Pontiac World of Skiing, etc. Apply for a World Cup sanctioning race (technical-Slalom/GS etc.) Stage major outdoor winter concerts. Bring in the X-Games. Promote the Zip-Line more etc. There is no reason to give up on Marble--it's a great hill. Just some more ingenuity is needed.

Governments and their agencies are the cash cows for too many ambitious, unscrupulous people, regardless of their political stripe.

If Mitchelmore is going to get picky at these meetings, they will be long meetings. Lots of stuff goes on in govt with loose financial controls. After a while, he'll get frustrated and give up like everybody else.
