Police on Bell Island arrested two men Thursday afternoon after a string of complaints from residents.
At 2:15 p.m., the RCMP received a complaint of possible mischief around Guthro Street. Soon after that, calls were made by several others about two men assaulting people, possibly with a weapon.
Finally, the men are said to have demanded money from a clerk at a store near Davidson Avenue. The clerks fled the building, and the men allegedly used the weapon to damage the store.
Police arrested the two suspects, who are said to be in their early 20s, shortly after the incident. They are being held in custody and will appear in court Friday on charges of attempted robbery, assault with a weapon, michief to property and breach of probation.
As the investigation continues, witnesses and other members of the public are asked to get in touch with the Bell Island RCMP or Crime Stoppers with information they may have.
