A Placentia-born woman who married into the Royal family will visit the town next week.
Sylvana (Tomaselli) Windsor, the Countess of St. Andrews, will be joined by her husband, George Windsor, the Earl of St. Andrew.
They are visiting as part of Placentia’s 350th anniversary celebrations.
The Countess of St. Andrews was born in Placentia in May 1957 and baptized at the Holy Rosary Church that July. Her father was a civil engineer working on the American base at Argentia at the time.
She moved to Europe as a toddler.
In 1988, she married The Earl of St. Andrews. He’s the great-grandson of King George V, and the eldest son of Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent.
The couple will be in Placentia from Sept. 13 to 16.
During their stay — which is not an official Royal visit — they will be guests at a civic dinner on Sept. 14 and at the launch of Voices of Placentia Bay Festival the next day.
