These guys just couldn't catch a break.
Late last month somebody broke into the Country Road Service Station outside Hickman's Harbour on Random Island.
The burglar(s) smashed a window to get into the building but an alarm sounded before they got very far. They ran away with nothing.
But not long after they drove off their car broke down and they started walking to Clarenville.
The RCMP states that two men have been charged in relation to this incident. They both face several charges, including breaking and entering.
One of the men plead guilty to his charges on August 23. He got six months in jail and probation.
The other man will be in court on Oct. 4 for his first appearance.
The RCMP states that this is only one example of break and enters and thefts from Random Island that it is investigating.
Local officers would like to remind residents of that community to lock their car and house doors.
Anyone with information on the above mentioned theft or any others is asked to contact Clarenville RCMP at 709-466-3211 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
