Priest pleads guilty to 35 sex charges

George Smith has pleaded guilty 35 of 62 sex-related charges against boys.

The Roman Catholic priest was accused of sexually abusing young males allegedly victimized nine boys during a 20-year period of serving western Newfoundland parishes.

Smith, who last resided in Truro, N.S., turned himself into the RCMP in Corner Brook late last year.

He appeared in Corner Brook Supreme Court this morning. Another eight charges still to be dealt with Oct. 1.

There are laws for the poor and for the rich and people who hold high offices. Prisoners are living, in some places, like animals - dirty prisons and also there is no help to rehabilitate/train them so they'll have a chance. Some have no family support or support in the community so they re-affend so they'll have a roof over their heads and food on the table. Time for our politicians to wake up and try to get our crime rate down. Also no special treatment for certain people. Priests are getting away with too much. Everything is done to help them. SO WHERE IS THERE JUSTICE? THERE IS NONE AND I AM HIGHLY DISCUSSED WITH OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM.

he may have pleade guilty, but what will the sentence be? if its jail time, and i say if, will he spend his vacation at the holiday inn with all the luxeries of home or will he spend it in general population at the big house ?. will it be house arrest? if all those hug-a-thug die-heart liberals out there have their way he will be walking by nightfall. the justice system and the court system in this country as become an embarrassment and a complete joke. you have to look no further then the phoenix sinclaire inguiry here in winnipeg manitoba for all to see.
