A 61-year-old man was charged with impaired driving Thursday night after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a pole near the intersection of Columbus Drive and New Pennywell Road in St. John’s.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to the crash about 9:15 p.m.
The vehicle received a lot of damage and the accused was held in custody overnight for a court appearance today.
Also on Thursday, a 29-year-old man was charged with drug-related offences following a traffic stop in the area of Hemmer Jane Drive in Mount Pearl.
The RNC seized a quanity of prescription pills including Percocet and Ritalin, along with a quantity of cash.
The accused was held in custody overnight for an appearance in court today.
In addition, at about 7:30 p.m., RNC officers arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly breaking into vehicles in the area of Franklin Avenue in St. John’s.
The accused face charges of theft and breaches of undertakings. He was held in custody for court today.
