Moose hunter charged for 2011 incident in which woman shot

A 36-year-old man from Embree on the province’s northeast coast has been charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm in connection with a November 2011 shooting incident.

The man, who was moose hunting at the time, is alleged to have shot a woman who was day camping with her family in the Lewisporte area.

The woman suffered serious injuries to her upper body.

The Lewisporte RCMP said today that as a result of its investigation, the criminal negilgence charge was laid, along with charges of careless use of a firearm, breach of probation and several offences under the Wildlife Act.
