@ANNA: Driver Ed? I thought new driver requirements were to drive unlicensed in an unregistered vehicle with no insurance. (sarcasm, but sadly a reality)

Telegram, in keeping with your Conditions of Use policy statement below, you don't find one reader telling another reader to "sober up by" to be discourteous and insulting, especially when the comment is due to your inability to proof-read/ fact-check a headline before publishing? Please remove said comment as it is abusive and offensive. You may want to consider scrutinizing such comments, as well as your inaccurate headlines and articles, a little more carefully in the future. Or is that asking too much of a professional print media outlet?

Telegram, how hard is it to do a little fact-checking and/ or proof-reading before filing an article? There's a huge difference between "fined" and "charged". Thanks for, once again, leading your readers astray.

The driver was FINED? No sentence? There's absolutely no need for this sort of thing to happen. What, you were in too big a hurry to let an 87 year old woman slow you down? Complete gross negligence on behalf of the driver- a fine will deter nothing of this sort of brazen behaviour.

The original headline and article read "Driver fined..." (note the correction notice at the bottom of the article). I can only comment on what I read so, once again, we can blame the crack team at the Telegram for printing inaccurate information. Next we'll find out it was a 17 year old on a skateboard who was struck, not an 87 year old woman. What's with the attitude, Jeff? Nothing better to gripe about?

It seems hitting a pedestrian is a daily occurence in good old St. John's. Does anyone know what the penalty is? Everyday out walking you have to ensure all cars are completely stopped before you can venture out on the street, there is a total lack of respect for pedestrians by alot of drivers. Don't they teach this stuff in Driver's Ed any longer?
