The west-bound lane in that area has been closed while the RNC carries out its investigation.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Accident Investigation Unit is currently on the scene of a single-vehicle collision in the west-bound lane of the Outer Ring Road, between Thorburn Road and the Topsail Road exits.

I know the man. Have served in the Amry with him. He is a very responsible rider, a veteran and a stand up family man. These comments show the lack of compassion of the select few internet "know it alls." Make your comments you cowards!

I know the man too and he is one of the most sensible riders I know. As most riders know, anything can happen on a motorcycle even if you are as careful as you can be. SO to Don and all you other wankers who shoot their mouths off without knowing the facts - STFU.

I have been driving out over the TCH all Summer and that highway is in the same condition in various sections ; however, most drivers would pull over into the lane that still has pavement rather than go into the grouved section even though traffic was slowed down somewhat. Hope the driver is okay.

The people who cause these accidents should be forced to sit in the traffic jam until it clears up before they receive medical attention.

You would whistling a different tune if that was you or a loved one, Not all poeple are crazy drivers. Before your quick to judge, realize the accident had contributing factors. Also while we were stuck in traffic (Me included) we lost a little time in our day, Nobody knows what this person has to endure or what he will in the days to come. Get a Clue!

Make no wonder the ORR is not fit to drive on. Only here are they allowed to tear up the roads and leave them for weeks. I drove out to that road the weekend and those ruts are not safe to drive on in a car let alone a motorcycle

Don.....apparently it was caused not by speed but because of the slick asphault. Could of been anyone driving any type of vehicle and have this happen. And most people who drive motorcycles are not speeding or reckless. Only takes a few to make it bad for everyone. Think about it, there are atleast 100 times more accidents involving cars and trucks than motorcycles.

If people on motorcycles followed the speed laws the majority of these senseless accidents would not happen.

How on earth could you possibly know this person was speeding? Did you not see in the photos that the road was stripped and tarred! Do you not think this could have contributed to the accident! You should not stereotype all motorcyclists. I hope this person pulls through ok.

The same comment can be made about any vehicle, not just motorcycles.

Don, you don't ride do you? Those repaving gouges are HELL on a motorcycle , tricky at best let alone doing a 80-100kph. I don't see any statement above that reads " speed was a factor", does any body else ?
