The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) in Corner Brook has arrested and charged a 29-year-old woman in connection with a jewelry theft.
On Wednesday, around 3:30 p.m. RNC patrol services received a tip from the public that a female had stolen merchandise from Alteen’s Jewellers on Broadway.
According to police, officers searched the area and located a female suspect in the area of Commercial Street and recovered the stolen property.
The accused was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.
The RNC said it was also learned during the course of this investigation that the woman was on a conditional sentence order from the provincial court at the time of the offence.
She was held in custody at the Corner Brook Detention Centre and is expected to appear in Corner Brook provincial court today.
