A 23-year-old man from Gander is dead following a motor vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway about two kilometres west of Charlottetown in the area of Terra Nova Park.
According to the RCMP, the man was driving west bound in a Honda Civic and it appears he crossed the centre line into the path of an east-bound transport-truck.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and the 51-year-old transport-truck driver was taken to hospital for observation.
The crash occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. and traffic was down to one lane in the area for several hours. The closed lane is now open, according to police.

Glovertown RCMP are at the scene of a serious motor vehicle accident this morning about two kilometres west of the community of Charlottetown inside Terra Nova National Park on the Trans Canada Highway.
