Driver injured as car rolls into ditch

The RNC advise the Manuels By-Pass Road entrance has been re-opened.

The lone female driver of a vehicle that landed in the ditch in the area of the Manuels By-Pass Road this morning was taken to hospital.

The extent of the 27-year-old woman's injuries, however, is unknown at this time. It is reported she was conscious and talking after being ejected from the vehicle.

The RNC accident investigation section is currently on the scene and the entrance to the by-pass road from the Manuels Access Road is closed while emergency crews are on the scene.

It always amazes me when people make snarky comments regarding speed limit, seat belts, and helmets (incase of atv's or motorcycles) when someone has been in an accident. This poor woman was injured from an accident regardless of speed she was driving seat belt or no seat belt. Most people first reaction would be, "I hope she is Okay!" It is what it is, an accident. To bad todays world is more judgemental than concerned, right Eli?

If people used seatbelts they most likely would not be ejected from vehicles, this person is very fortunate to be alive.

Have said this before and will say it again, if a driver gets in trouble on the CBS Bypass 'Road' (read: 'Path'), there is nowhere to go! The road was built with not enough shoulder width for a car to safely pull onto, if you have to fix a driver's side tire you're taking your life in your hands. And, as in this case, the guard rails act like a ramp to propel a vehicle into the air and then down a steep embankment. I hope they do a better job on the newest extension of the CBS Bypass Road.

It would appear from the damage to the car she wasn't doing any more than the 50-kph speed limit in that area, right? And the seat belt didn't hold,right?
