I'd say they have reason to chant, if they've been without a contract since 2009. Local News reported yesterday that they are looking for parity with workers at Halifax, aparently the Board has refused , using as justification the fact that Halifax Airport is 2.5 times larger than St. John's. They (the Board), are being very selective with their choice as they are not using the same measurement for themselves and their own salary when they award themsevles as much or more than the Board which runs Halifax receives in their pay packet. VERY SELF-SERVING.

My gosh, are these people for real. Are they really expecting the public to support them when we can't afford to travel unless we can hit a seat sale? Come on, get real people. 50+% wage increase is insane, and I can't believe anybody could ask for that with a straight face. I guess it's ok as long as they don't block up the Tim's lineup :)

50% wage increase over 7 years is a little over 7% increase a year. While them front-loading it with 30% in the first year is a bit much, their ask is fair if it was applied evenly.

Brad - I wonder what you comments would be if airfares went up by 50%, or gasoline, or dare I suggest your groceries? I suspect some of the works I would hear would be gouging, ludicrous, the government should step in... and the list goes on. Why not look for something reasonable relative to the community, and perhaps they would get some public sympathy.
