An 18-year-old man from the Codroy Valley area of Newfoundland is in critical condition after a collision involving a dirt bike and a pick-up truck.

The collision happened Friday at about 11:30 a.m.

The man was driving the dirt bike when it collided with the truck.

The occupants of the truck were not injured.

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.

The injured man was taken to the Dr. Charles L. Legrow Hospital in Port aux Basques before being transferred to Western Regional Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook for surgery.

He is currently being treated at the intensive care unit at that hospital.

Darn pickups don't have any business on our ATV trails! The crash did happen on a trail right?
