A man was arrested for impaired driving early Sunday morning when the RCMP stopped a vehicle near Bay Roberts.
According to police, the 20-year-old Bay Roberts man resisted and assaulted the officer trying to arrest him.
The Trinity Conception District RCMP reports that officers involved in the arrest sustained minor injuries.
The driver was on probation and was not allowed to drive.
The man was held for court, but has been let go to appear in court on the following charges: impaired driving, failing to provide a breath sample, driving while prohibited, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and breach of probation.
