Man resists arrest for impaired driving, assaults officer: RCMP

Coming from a person who was witness at the scene and the events that occurred, none of the officers were assaulted. The man was co-operative and respectful, did what they asked, stepped out of the vehicle and placed his hands on the front of the vehicle. He then asked AFTER he was handcuffed with no struggle (therefore NOT resisting arrest), for the officer to please read him his rights. The officer then refused and he was told he would read them to him in the car. The man claimed that this was unfair and he would like him to read him his rights before getting placed in the vehicle. The officers then started to get aggressive and force him towards the vehicle where the man repeated that once they read him his rights, he would willingly get in the police vehicle (therefore the following situation could have been avoided). The man asked the officers to identify themselves by telling them their names in which they would not. That is when the supposed "assault" occurred, within a second, three officers had him down on the pavement, one on top of him, throwing punch after punch while two officers had him pinned. The man was handcuffed during the supposed "assault" and beaten by three cops while shouting for help. I, myself yelled for them to please stop which they did not and I was told to stay in the vehicle but was still in full view and hearing range. To add, (the following assault I was not witness to) after being placed in the vehicle, for no need at all, the man was again assaulted with three punches to the ribs, once again by a police officer reaching into the police vehicle. Later, when the man was taken to the hospital to seek medical attention, the doctor had asked the officers to remove the handcuffs so he could further examine the injuries sustained from the beating, in which, the officers refused therefore leaving the man unable to receive proper medical treatment. The way the situation was handled was disturbing to say the very least. It's hard to watch the people who are supposed to protect you and enforce the law, ignore the law themselves and use unnecessary force on a person to the point where they are shouting for help. I am a witness to the unprofessional acts of these police officers at the scene and will be sharing the truth and pictures of the injuries the man received during the beating from the officers involved. The public should start getting the full story before passing judgment and remember that all people are innocent until proven guilty. The justice system should really review who they have working for them and until they take the initiative to review these officers and the stories of the witnesses, I have no faith in the "protection" of the justice system whatsoever.

To add, after being placed in the vehicle, for no need at all, to be assaulted and being punched in the ribs three times, once again by a police officer is disgusting. The way the situation was handled was disturbing to say the very least. It's hard to watch the people who are supposed to protect you, ignore the law themselves, and use unnecessary force on a person to the point where they are shouting for help. I am a witness to the acts of these police officers and will be sharing my story. The public should start getting the full story before passing judgment. Until the justice system reviews these officers and the stories of the witnesses, I have no faith whatsoever.

Coming from a person involved and at the scene, none of the officers were assaulted. The man was handcuffed during the supposed ``assault`` and beaten by three cops while shouting for help. The Telegram should start getting the full story before posting. Justice system should really review who they have working for them.
