Car crash sends five to hospital

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is continuing to investigate a single-vehicle accident on the Manuels Access Road Sunday night that sent five people to hospital.

Police say the accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. Five occupants were taken to hospital for treatment of what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

In the past 24 hours, the RNC responded to 169 calls for service in the St. John's-metro area.

Around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, a 32-year-old man was arrested on outstanding warrants for breaches of court orders.

And, around 9:10 p.m., the RNC street patrol responded to a domestic disturbance in the Indian Meal Line area.

A 32-year-old man was arrested for assault, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. He was taken to the city lockup to be held in custody until a court appearance today.
