The St. John’s Regional Fire Department and St. John’s Firefighters’ Association have launched a new community project in the form of a Passionately Pink Pumper to be used both on call-outs and special events for the month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The pink fire truck was unveiled at a launch of the Passionately Pink Program at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland at 4:30 p.m. today.

The hotel is hosting the 2012 Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs annual conference.

The fire truck was transformed with the assistance of Auto Trim designs and 3M Canada.

Local breast cancer survivors were on hand for the launch and to sign the fire truck with their names and number of years as survivors.
