Margie Quinlan of Chapel’s Cove has won the top prize in Atlantic Lottery’s Set for Life play, it was announced today.
Quinlan, a personal care worker, opted to take a lump-sum payout of $675,000 rather than $1,000 per week.
Quinlan obtained her ticket while on her way to St. John’s to run some errands and do some shopping. She cashed-in a Set for Life $4 winning ticket opting for more tickets instead of taking the $4 payout.
She asked her daughter Jessie, who was in the backseat of the vehicle, to scratch the tickets for her. Jessie asked her what she needed to win.
“I told her three of the same in one box and she yelled ‘you got it mom, you won’,” Quinlan said.
With the excitement Quinlan said they had to pull off to the side of the road and call the 1-800 number on the back of the ticket. Instead of paying bills and visiting Costco, they ended up at Atlantic Lottery’s St. John’s office.
Circle K in Holyrood will receive a one per cent seller’s prize for selling the winning ticket.
