Raymond Stanley Noftall, a 57-year-old with a lengthy criminal record, who was the centre of a police manhunt in March, has been committed to stand trial following a preliminary inquiry in provincial court in St. John's.
Noftall will be tried on four of five original charges arising from an armed robbery at a St. John's residence on March 19 — robbery, using a firearm while committing an offence, pointing a firearm at a man, and possessing a weapon, which was a gun. One charge of unlawful entry into a dwelling was dropped.
However, Judge Colin Flynn added two other charges uttering threats and assault.
Noftall has been arraigned to appear in Newfoundland Supreme Court at a future date to be set, expected to be in October or November.
