The Town of Conception Bay South has received a Marketing Canada Award for its “Bright Town, Bright Future Community Profile.”
The award was presented during the 44th annual conference of the Economic Developers Association of Canada in Iqualit, Nunavut, which began Friday and continues until Wednesday.
The town launched its new logo and brand strategy last July. The community profile was developed as part of the strategy and according to the town, it encompasses all that is bright about Conception Bay South. It highlights in words and images the town’s bright community, lifestyle, events, business, development and tourism attributes.
“The Town is very proud to be the recipient of the Marketing Canada Award and be recognized as a leader in our marketing efforts. It is another example of how Conception Bay South is having an impact nationally and being noticed as a great place to reside, to do business, and to visit.” said C.B.S. Mayor Woodrow French.
This year’s awards program attracted 160 submissions from across Canada. The adjudication committee consisted of four marketing professionals in Ontario.
The Marketing Canada Awards competition is an opportunity to exchange and review promotional literature and other marketing material produced by municipalities across the country. The awards program is open to organizations and municipalities that promote and market Canadian provinces, territories, regions, cities, towns and areas with a view to improving the economic well-being of Canadians.
The Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) describes itself as a national association of economic development professionals, representing every province and territory across Canada with more than 1,000 members. Its mission is to enhance the professional competence of economic development professionals and ensure placement of qualified people in the field of economic development, to advance economic development as a distinct, recognized, and self-governing profession and to contribute to Canada’s well-being.
The association says it recognizes that marketing a municipality is an integral part of the economic development profession.
