Actually, parking costs money at all major hospitals in Canada. The Mall covers the cost of parking because it's a place of business and all the shoppers spending their dollars are indirectly paying for the upkeep of the parking lot (paving, painting, snow clearing). I'd say these pay-on-foot systems are a benefit for anyone who is visiting with a loved one, because you don't have to keep feeding the meter. Plus it's easier if you can pay with credit card. Paying for parking is a necessary evil in our car-centric life.

Four years ago my mother was in the Health Science Center for over three months before she passed away and, of course, members of the family (two at a time) always stayed with her 24/7. To add to this terrible stress was the worry of the parking meters expiring and having to remember the time and then having to rush in and out numerous times in the run of a day or night in all kinds of weather because it was Winter, and also making sure that you had sufficient change on you at all times. Needless to say, we received a lot of tickets. How utterly insensitive to the sick, terminalally ill, and families. Whoever is involved with all these so-called wonderful decisions regarding the parking, just think about what people are REALLY going through, emotionally and mentally. Like others have said, shopping malls, theaters, etc., are free. Having to pay to park at a hospital of all places is absolutely dreadful and extremely stressful and worrisome.

You go shopping and park for free but to go to a emergency at the hospital or to visit a relative / friend you have to pay to park? Anyone see anything wrong with this or is it just me?

Charging people to park at a hospital? How sick is that! Eastern health should be ashamed to even try and implement that. You guys for real or what?

So to eliminate any FREE parking at the Health Sciences Center they add this beautiful feature and the staff convenienty get moved to the free parking area...there is something totally wrong with this picture...shouldn't those that are sick or have a loved one in the hospital NOT have to pay anything????? This is added stress to someone who maybe just does not have $12.00 to go visit someone for the day. This place is getting worse by the minute, think ahead to the patients and their families not what you can do to make more money off of us.

The "boy" is not a "boy." If you are 17 years old and living on your own, you are a "man." Two years and a year of quasi-probation for murder!!! That is a joke. The judge took pity because he was a misguided and mixed up person!!! If every judge did this the prisons would be empty and blood would be flowing the streets form all the crime.

Is the $ 2 flat fee parking lot still available - it should be - it was great. Can general public access that staff parking garage & if so, how much?
