Two female youths have been charged with one count each of property damage arising from an incident at the holding cells at provincial court in St. John's late Thursday morning.

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers were called to the cells where the suspects were alleged to have caused damage to government property while being transported to court.

The RNC's patrol and traffic services also responded to numerous collisions Thursday in the St. John's-metro region during wet, rainy weather.

Police say there were no serious injuries involved.

The RNC in Corner Brook, meanwhile, are investigating a theft of gas. Around 4:58 p.m., an adult female was reported putting $50.03 worth of gas in a vehicle at a west side area gas bar.

Police say there is video surveillance to assist in their investigation.
