The biggest trophy in Canadian football, the Grey Cup, will be in the province at a touch football game Monday at noon.
The event will take place at the Smallwood Fieldhouse, Team Gushue Sports Complex, Arena Road (off Smallwood Drive) in Mount Pearl.
A news release notes it will be the first time the Grey Cup has come to Newfoundland and Labrador.
The event is part of a cross-Canada tour to celebrate the 100th Grey Cup taking place on Nov. 25 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
The visit is being hosted by Sport Newfoundland and Labrador which represents 55 provincial sport organizations in Newfoundland and Labrador by providing programs and services in the promotion of sport and physical activity.
Keith Hutchings, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, will be present to welcome the trophy on behalf of the Derrick Dalley, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation.
