A disturbing example of group violence has come to light at a school in Blaketown, near Whitbourne, Newfoundland and Labrador.
A 13-year-old girl was beaten by two other girls near Crescent Collegiate school in Blaketown as some of their classmates watched and recorded the violence.
The victim was taken to Whitbourne Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and released.
Her alleged attackers, a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old, were detained by police and have been charged with assault causing bodily harm. They were released into their parent’s custody on the condition that they stay away from the victim. They’ve been given a court date, in Harbour Grace, for sometime in December.
A police report of the incident was released to the media over the weekend.
According to RCMP, Placentia/Whitbourne detachment, the two alleged aggressors in this attack picked a fight with the victim. It escalated to the point where the victim was knocked into a ditch and was punched repeatedly by her attackers.
As this was happening, a group of about 12 other students gathered to watch, and many recorded the incident on their cell phones.
The fight didn’t stop until a local resident noticed what was happening and intervened.
Contacted by The Telegram over the weekend, RCMP stated that further charges could be brought against some of the spectators to the violence.
Police have recovered two video recordings of the attack and could use those to identify more suspects.
Some of the spectators were allegedly encouraging the fight and advising the girls how to make fists.
The investigation into this attack is ongoing.

If "crazy" thinks the victim is at fault here, there is something seriously wrong with her way of thinking. Most certainly the person must be a relative of the charged bullies. Why was there a bond put on a girl a year ago to stay away from the victim? Why did the mother have to go to the school countless times complaining if it was her daughter that was a bully. The victim herself went to the teachers, principal and guidance councilor seeking protection from these bullies. If she was at fault, wouldn't she be concerned about getting herself in trouble? She actually tried every possible way to avoid these brats;not going out recess times, not going to the cafeteria and leaving the school property lunch times and going back just before bell time. This is when they jumped her. The mother is not seeking "fame" as you,"crazy" call it,on the contrary,it's the last thing she wants or needs. All she wanted was for her daughter to attend school to get an education, without fear of being bullied. If that person never came to the rescue of that young girl,we may be talking about a murder, not an assault causing bodily harm charge. This such be characterized as an attempted murder ,not bullying.Three on one,the poor girl didn't have a chance. "Crazy, you are right about one thing; karma usually comes back to bite you and sure as hell, these bullies will meet their match. So sad to say but they will grow up to be career criminals.
