A 50-year-old man was arrested in St. John's early this morning in connection with a domestic dispute in the centre city area.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was called to the home around 1:30 a.m. The accused was charged with two counts of assault one count of mischief. He was detained at the lock-up for a court appearance this morning.
Meanwhile, a traffic safety stop on Holbrook Avenue in the city resulted in a man being charged with several offences under the Highway Traffic Act, including driving without a driver's licence and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. Further investigation determined that the accused had over $10,000 in outstanding fines. He was taken to the lockup and is also to appear in court today.
Another traffic safety stop around 3:50 a.m. on the Conception Bay South Highway resulted in a man being charged with several offences under the Highway Traffic Act, including driving a vehicle without a licence and without insurance. The accused also had over $9,000 in outstanding fines. He was held in custody for a court appearance today.
A man and woman were also arrested overnight in separate incidents and each charged with breach of a court order.
