The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is seeking the assistance of the general public in identifying the owner of a canoe that was found overturned in the area between Duley Lake and Canning Lake in Labrador west.

Around 6 p.m.Tuesday, RNC patrol officers responded to a report of a recovered canoe in the water, There have been no reports of missing persons in the area, according to police, but some information received indicates that a resident may have lost the canoe by accident a few days prior while attempting to launch it.

The RNC is seeking the assistance of the general public to confirm this information.

In the meantime, police are continuing the search for the owner and is seeking the assistance of the general public. Anyone who has information pertaining to the owner or potential occupants of the craft is asked is asked to contact the RNC at 709-944-7602 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). People can also provide information anonymously on the N.L .Crime Stoppers Website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
