A search is continuing this morning for an overdue boater in the Bay of Islands area on the province’s west coast.
The RCMP says a 45-year-old man departed Summerside about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in a 24-foot cabin cruiser. He failed to arrive at his intended destination of Trout River and was reported to the RCMP as overdue on Thursday morning.
The boat is white in colour with a white and blue canvas canopy. The boat bears the name of “My Fairwind.”
The Canadian Coast Guard Joint Rescue Co-ordination Center in Halifax has, since that time, been conducting a search of the area by both sea and air in an effort to locate the man.
Corner Brook RCMP is requesting that any individual with knowledge of the location of the vessel or the missing man to contact the RCMP with details immediately.
