A man taken away by ambulance from a home on Albany Street in St. John’s last month — a home in which RNC officers discovered a clandestine drug lab — has died, the RNC announced today.

Next of kin of the deceased are being notified and, out of direct respect to the family members, the RNC says it will not be releasing the name of the deceased at this time.

The RNC says the investigation remains open pending the receipt of the analysis by Health Canada of the materials seized from the home at the time.

On Friday, Sept. 21, RNC officers responded to a medical emergency at the home and found, what police suspected, was criminal activity. A number of area homes were evacuated for the remainder of that day and residents were not allowed to return to their homes until 3:30 a.m. the next morning.

Later that Saturday, the RNC confirmed that investigators found a large quantity of chemicals "that are consistent with the manufacturing of drugs" within the home.

The RNC is asking that anyone with information in relation to the investigation or any other to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can provide information anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.

Wait...an ambulance? I thought the firefighters took him to the hospital?
