A Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s man has been charged with careless storage of a firearm and uttering threats following an incident Saturday afternoon in the community.
John Brendan Tucker, 41, made a brief appearance in St. John’s Provincial Court on Sunday. According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s overnight report, a report of a possible gunshot near a home in St. Philip’s was received at 2:40 p.m. on Saturday.
Tucker was arrested at the scene and was said to be “under the influence,” according to the overnight report. A shotgun was seized from the scene. Court documents allege he uttered threats towards another man.
The crown opposed Tucker’s release. He is due back in court on Monday for a bail hearing.
