Browning Harvey has pledged to donate $250,000 toward adult health care in the province.
The Health Care Foundation announced in a news release the local company has signed on as an anniversary sponsor for its 2012 Eleganza fundraising gala.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Eleganza, one of the foundation’s main fundraising events. Funds raised this year will go toward the foundation’s Comfort in Care™ program, which has been expanded to allow for the phased redevelopment and upgrading to family rooms, waiting areas, quiet areas, emergency rooms and LeMarchant House, a community-based mental health centre.
“We are very grateful for the generosity and corporate commitment from Browning Harvey and the Patten family,” Paul Snow, Health Care Foundation president and CEO, said. “Thanks to the generosity of Browning Harvey, as well as our other corporate sponsors and patrons, Eleganza will have raised the funds required to launch phase one of the Comfort in Care special projects.”
“Browning Harvey has been a long-time supporter of the Health Care Foundation and we are pleased to be able to make a significant contribution during this milestone event,” said John Patten, president of Browning Harvey Ltd. “Congratulations to all those involved in Eleganza and to the Health Care Foundation for its vision of improved adult healthcare in Newfoundland and Labrador.”
Vickie Kaminski, President and CEO of Eastern Health, said the health authority is extremely grateful for “the tremendous support we receive from Browning Harvey and the Patten Family that enables our organization to invest in state-of-the-art medical equipment and to provide comfort to our patients and their families.”
Kaminski added, “The Pattens are well-known for their spirit of giving in our community and we are proud to be among the beneficiaries.”
Eleganza is one of the Health Care Foundation’s largest and most successful fundraising initiatives. To date, it has raised more than $2.5 million to purchase vital medical equipment in support of adult health care. Set for Saturday, October 20, 2012, at the Delta St. John’s, this year’s theme is “Sea the Potential”.
The Health Care Foundation, formed in 2002, is the official fundraising organization for the adult acute care hospitals in the greater St. John’s area.
