The Telegram website offers only a sample of the stories our reporters, editors and photographers work hard to get to the public every day.

Wednesday’s full edition of The Telegram, on the other hand, contains much, much more, from news to opinion to our expanded Business section.

• New materials and new contents mean house fires are burning hotter and faster than before, according to one fire chief. And while that may be true, one homebuilder says that doesn’t mean newer homes are less safe than older ones.

• The MetroView 2012 series continues, looking at the challenges facing people looking for affordable housing in the metro area.

• Problems in the way charity lottery licences are being approved have not been foxed, according to the auditor general.

• Environment Canada says hurricane Rafael should pass just south of the Grand Banks this evening. And while the extreme winds accompanying Rafael are forecast to stay well south of Newfoundland, Environment Canada says the heavy rainfall associated with the storm is expected to pass just east of the Avalon Peninsula overnight tonight and into Thursday morning.
