St. John's fish and chips fans can rest easy: Leo's is not closing.

The Freshwater Road fixture took down the Leo's Restaurant sign this morning — sparking an #RIPLeos hashtag on Twitter when the removal was noticed by local musician Jody Richardson — but the owner's daughter told the Telegram it's just to make way for a new sign. She was surprised that news of the restaurant's supposed demise had already started to spread online.

"That was quick," said Melissa Pittman, granddaughter of the late Leo Pittman, at his namesake restaurant today. "The sign only just came down this morning."

Talk about jumping to conclusions! Any reasonable person would check it out before posting an assumption online. Some people need to get a life.
