RCMP in Nain are investigating three separate assaults.

On Tuesday around 9:20 p.m., officers responded to a complaint that a male resident from the community was being assaulted.

Upon arrival at the home, the RCMP met the victim who was bleeding from his forehead.

The suspect ran out the back door.

A 21-year-old man was arrested a short time later and charged with assault and breach of an undertaking. He was held in custody until a court appearance today.

The 39-year-old man who was assaulted did not require medical attention.

Around 1:45 p.m. Wedensday, RCMP responded to another complaint of assault with a weapon. Police entered a home in the community where a 49-year-old man was reported to be sitting, covered in blood and had a large cut to his forehead.

Police say an investigation has determined that the victim was drinking with a 44-year-old woman and that the woman struck the man in the head with a drinking glass.

A woman from the community was arrested a short time later and held in jail.  She was charged with assault with a weapon and later released on undertaking to appear in provincial court at a later date.  The victim was treated for his injuries at the local medical clinic.

In a third incident, the RCMP responded to an assault complaint in the community around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The RCMP was told that a 49-year-old man from the community had his ear torn during an altercation and was being treated for this injury at the medical clinic.

An investigation to date has revealed that two men were in an altercation and one man bit the other man.

A 35 year-old-man from the community was arrested a short time later and held in custody. He was to appear at provincial court in Nain today to face an aggravated assault charge.

The investigation into these incidents are ongoing and police say alcohol is believed to have been a factor in all three assaults.
