UPDATE: Irishtown fire caused by electrical malfunction

Corner Brook RCMP have determined a fire at the Irishtown-Summerside Municipal Office was the result of an electrical malfunction in the back wall of the structure. 

The fire was reported around 3:30 a.m.Thursday by the time police arrived, the building was engulfed in flames.

The Corner Brook RCMP and provincial Fire Commissioner’s Office are jointly investigating a fire early this morning at the Irishtown-Summerside Municipal Office in Irishtown.

According to police, the fire was reported around 3:30 a.m.

The local fire department was on scene when police arrived  battling an engulfed building which also housed the community hall.

No apparent cause is known at this time and police say no further details are available at this time.
