Newman murder case set over to Nov. 28

The murder case of Raymond Gerald Newman was called in Newfoundland Supreme Court this morning.

The Crown informed Justice James Adams that they will need time to review the judge's decisions on pre-trial applications.

The specifics of those applications cannot be published.

The case has been set over to Nov. 28.

Newman is awaiting trial for murder in connection with the death of his estranged wife Chrissy Predham-Newman.

Predham-Newman's body was found in her Airport Heights apartment in St. John's Jan. 21, 2007.

Newman was arrested and charged in June 2009 after a 2 1/2-year police investigation.

Four months have been set aside for the murder trial.

Newman is also awaiting trial on unrelated charges of assaulting a man, uttering threats to him, obstructing him from using his property and breaching a recognizance.

good lord.......almost 6 YEARS lapsed for this to get to trial since the murder?!?!

  Yes, but he was only arrested and charged two years ago. Then had to go through a preliminary hearing. Welcome to the justice system.
