Two people escaped injury Saturday night after the pickup they were in on the Trans-Labrador Highway caught fire.

RCMP and fire crews from Happy Valley/Goose Bay responded to the fire that occurred about 15 kilometres west of Goose Bay around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the driver of a west-bound vehicle noted that the east-bound pickup was on fire. The west-bound driver turned around and was able to catch the attention of the occupants of the pickup which then stopped and the occupants got out of the burning vehicle.

The pickup was destroyed by the fire.

The RCMP investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
