The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is requesting the public’s assistance in investigating  a recent break and entry in St. John’s.

Between Sept. 19 and Oct. 20, entry was gained into a home on Oxen Pond Road. The items stolen included a Remington 30-06, 700 model rifle with an armsport scope and ammunition.

The RNC said it’s concerned about the types of items stolen and consider their potential availability on the street to be a public safety concern.

The RNC asks anyone with information in relation to this incident to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). People can also provide information anonymously on the N.L. Crime Stoppers website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.

The RNC is also issuing a reminder that anyone in possession of stolen property can be charged criminally under the Criminal Code of Canada.

This is a corrected version.
