The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) would like to advise the public that it is currently recruiting for the 2013- 2014 Police Recruit Training Program.

To date, the RNC, in conjunction with Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), has successfully trained eight classes of police cadets. The RNC/MUN Police Studies Program began in 2004 and has resulted in 192 cadets successfully completing the program.

Over the next couple of weeks, the RNC will be holding public information sessions throughout the province to answer questions about the training program and outline the application process for potential candidates.

Women and men who are interested in a career as a police officer are encouraged to attend. Deadline for applications 2013-2014 program is Nov. 16, 2012.

The following is the information session schedule for this week:

— Wednesday, Oct. 24 - Grenfell Campus, Arts and Science Building, Corner Brook (Room AS378) 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. female only session, 5:30 p.m. general session;

— Thursday, Oct. 25 - College of the North Atlantic, Baie Verte Campus (Room TBD) 4 p.m. general session.

The Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Division along with the RNC will also be holding “PrePARE for the PARE” sessions. The PARE is a physical abilities test that measures the capacity to perform physical tasks often encountered by law enforcement work.

The following is the “PrePARE for the PARE” session schedule:

— Saturday, Oct. 27 – West Coast Training Centre, 338 Massachusetts Drive, Stephenville, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. general session;

— Sunday, Oct. 28 – Building 35, CFB 9 Wing Facility, Gander, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. general session.

Application packages and information on the recruiting process are available on the RNC website at www.rnc.gov.nl.ca or the nearest RNC detachment. They can also be obtained by contacting the RNC Recruiting Unit at (709) 729-8729 or by email at rncrecruiting@rnc.gov.nl.ca.
