A 48-year-old man is facing a number of charges after police seized a large amount of contraband cigarettes and cigars, marijuana and methamphetamine tablets Tuesday on the province’s west coast.
The arrest was made after members of the RCMP and RNC Joint Forces Unit stopped a vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway near Pasadena.
Seized were 2.5 pounds of cannabis marihuana, 10 tablets of methamphetamine, 450 cartons of contraband cigarettes, and two cartons of cigars.
Charges were laid under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, the Excise Act and the Revenue Administration Act.
The accused was released from custody to appear in provincial court in Corner Brook on Jan. 15.
